Planting at Woodchuck Lodge

The Catskill Community Garden Club provided a heritage apple tree
(Esopus Spitzenberg), which we planted in the orchard across the
road from the house; and a shadblow , which was planted next to a
stone wall at a newly reclaimed picnic area. In group photo, l. to r.
Diane Galusha and Joe Farleigh of Woodchuck Lodge,  Lucci Kelly
and Jenny Liddle and Sandra Green (pink hat) of the Garden Club,
and in rear, Bill  Birns, of the Lodge, who read an excerpt from John
Burroughs' "Under the Apple-Trees."

Second pic, Joe with shovel, Lucci holding tree, in rear Howie
Futterman, a friend of the Lodge, who often portrays Burroughs at
local events. (Look for him at Fleischmanns Memortial Day
festivities.)

Jenny also donated several perennials which were planted next to a
rebuilt stone wall. (Photo of her and Joe Farleigh planting them).

Woodchuck Lodge is grateful to the club for helping us beautify our
landscape, a lovely way to observe Arbor Day. John Burroughs is
smiling!
